Kabul, the capital and largest city of Afghanistan
Herat, located in the west of the country, is the third largest city after Kandahar in the south.
An Afghan National Air Force Mi-17 helicopter flying over Mazar-i-Sharif, the fourth largest city of Afghanistan located in the north.

The following are fourteen cities of Afghanistan in order of population. The estimates given are the 2006 figures by the Central Statistics Office of Afghanistan published by the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development of Afghanistan.
