Mina' Zayid

Port Zayed

Mina Zayid (Arabic: ميناء زايد‎) (Port Zayid, sometimes written as 'Zayed'), is the commercial deep-water port that serves the city and Emirate of Abu Dhabi. 24°31′00″N 54°23′00″E / 24.5166667°N 54.3833333°E / 24.5166667; 54.3833333Coordinates: 24°31′00″N 54°23′00″E / 24.5166667°N 54.3833333°E / 24.5166667; 54.3833333 Named after Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the former President of the United Arab Emirates. There are currently plans to move the port out of the city to Taweelah to reduce heavy goods vehicles in the city and to free-up valuable land in the city for residential and commercial development.

It is one of the reasons why the UAE could develop because it had deep water so transportation of the oil ships was easy.
