History

Despite the fact that Sarıgöl which is located between Denizli and Manisa seems to be a small town, according to some authorities it was an important city throughout the history. In the place of Sarıgöl there was a city called Callatebus (Kallatebos). That city was mentioned by Herodotus in his 7th book's 31st district, and the name of Kallatebos takes place in the Bible as well. The fact that this city is located in a strategic place has gained much more importance in ancient history.
