Ikorodu is a city and Local Government Area in Lagos State, Nigeria. Located along the Lagos Lagoon, it shares a boundary with Ogun State. As of the 2006 Census Ikorodu had an enumerated population of 535,619.

History

Ikorodu was founded by Yorubas who settled in the area. The name Ikorodu is a form of Oko Odu, which means "odu farm." During the 19th century Ikorodu was an important trading post for the Remo kingdom, it achieved this by being situated along the trade route between Lagos and Ibadan.

In August 2007, floods killed six people in Ikorodu and forced the evacuation of more.
