Sarandí is a city of the Avellaneda Partido in the Gran Buenos Aires metropolitan area, Argentina. Sarandí is located to the south of the Capital Federal district.
The district has an area of 54 km² and a population of 60,752 inhabitants (INDEC, 2001); the second most populated locality in the partido after Avellaneda, with 18,5% of its population. The main economical activity in the area is the leather industry, often criticized due to the contamination of the Riachuelo River.
It is named after a native bush called sarandí.
Sport
Sarandí is home to Arsenal de Sarandí, a football (soccer) club that currently plays in the Argentine first division.
