The Nissan Almera Tino was a compact MPV produced by the Japanese automaker Nissan in its Spanish factory in both petrol and diesel versions. It was based on floorpan of the Almera small family car, which had been launched in early 2000, and launched in Europe in the autumn of that year and sold until late 2006, ceasing production in the November of that year - the same time that the Almera hatchback and saloon were axed.
Engine Range
In the Tino range there are three engines available:
- 1.8 16v with 113 bhp (There was a 'Bi-Fuel' option which was an LPG conversion)
- 2.0 16v with 136 bhp (Only available with an automatic transmission)
- 2.2 Diesel - 2.2 Di with 110 bhp, which in 2003 was updated to a commonrail - 2.2 dCi with 114 or 136 bhp.
Although Renault and Nissan started sharing mechanics after they had formed an alliance in 1999. The 2.2 dCi engine in the Almera Tino is a Nissan engine not a Renault engine although there is a Renault engine of similar capacity, the Renault engine is 2188 cc with belt driven camshaft while the Nissan engine is 2184 cc with a chain driven camshaft, it is this engine that is fitted to the Almera Tino.
Trim levels
Like most Nissan's the Tino was credited for its equipment levels and even basic models get climate control, electric sunroof and front electric windows. In 2003 the Tino had a few updates including new steering wheel and new dials whilst on the outside the front indicators had clear plastic instead of orange. and the engines were revised.
