The Koenigsegg CC is an automobile made by Koenigsegg. It was issued to set work on in late 1999, when Koenigsegg had wanted to build a supercar exceeding all standards set by the McLaren F1 at the time, and go over the 386 km/h (240 mph) set by the F1 in 1997. The design started to come to life as of 2002, when the Swedish car manufacturer was finally ready for production lines to proceed.

The car was originally designed by Sven-Harry Åkesson under the name of the Sethera Falcon.

Speed contest

In the late months of 2003, the Koenigsegg CC8S design was boasting 390+ km/h (245+ mph) in its final weeks of development. In early 2004, the Koenigsegg CC8S was street legal and orders were coming in from all over the world. As this new record was set, Bugatti, which had been planning to launch the Veyron ever since 2002, finally released it in 2005, going on to break the speed record set by the CC8S.

However, the CCR set its record on a circular track (Italy's Nardò Prototipo proving ground), with the steering wheel at an angle of 30°, causing extra friction on the tires. In comparison, the McLaren F1 and Veyron were both tested on a 9 km straight.
